Portfolio Categories as Drop Down Menu items in Top Navigation Menu

I would like to know if I can make my portfolio categories appear as a drop down menu under Portfolio in my top navigation menu.  In menus, I know how to make sub-items etc but for portfolio categories, they aren't pulling up as options within menus.

    Hi Portela72,

    Apologies for the late reply.

For the portfolio categories to appear in the menu edit area click on the screen options button on the top right and enable them from there.

You should have a portfolio categories section you can pick from to add to the menu.
    Cheers.

No problem.  Thanks for the tip.  It worked but the dropdown is horizontal under the main menu as opposed to the categories being stacked vertically.  I haven't been able to figure out where that option/selection of set up is.

    Thanks

    Hi Portela72,

Could we get a link to the actual site please.

And also clarify as it's not all that clear:

we are talking of adding a drop down on the main menu where on hover a drop down appears of these categories like portfolio here http://simple-elegant.withemes.com/

We ask because it's not possible for that dropdown popup to be vertical.
Give us a link to the site so that we can be sure.

    Thanks.

Hi John, thanks for your fast response.

Here is the link that you have asked me for

Also, yes I understand correctly. I would like it to be the same as drop down for my Shop menu with the ability for a couple of levels.

    Thanks again for your support.

    Hi Portela72,

The site is behind a coming soon page.

Wait before sending those credentials to bypass it, try and indent your menu items further to three levels if you want to form a multicolumn \ multilevel menu like under portfolio here http://simple-elegant.withemes.com/. The column titles are just custom links with # as the link.

Please try it first before the credentials.
This should help set up the menu properly: http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-add-navigation-menu-in-wordpress-beginners-guide/

    Cheers.

I'm not sure what you were meaning with "credentials"?

My site is now live.  I know how to set up menus but for some reason the portfolio categories are not adding as drop down submenus the way I want them to.

I've added them as sub items under Portfolio but they continue to spread across the page under the menu instead of down the page under the menu.

Please see my attachments. Thank you

    Hi Portela72,

Credentials - we meant a username password to bypass the coming soon page.

As for that issue think we will need to check this from the backend.
The screenshot shows the set up is correct and there isn't any other thing that needs to be done to get the drop down set up to flow downwards.

Could we get access to the backend - username password with admin privileges - we try and get this menu working for you.

    Thanks.
